Shri Rajiv Kumar, an accomplished professional with over 35 years of comprehensive Management and Engineering experience, is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering , an MBA and also an alumnus of National Law School of India University. Sh. Rajiv Kumar started his career in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited as a Management Trainee (Technical) and was elevated to the post of Chief Executive Officer(Accessories Complex) in April 2015.
After the completion of 72 weeks of academic training at IIT Madras and Management Academy of HAL, Sh. Rajiv Kumar handled various key assignments at 3 Divisions of HAL having distinctly different product lines. He has got hands on experience in the diverse fields of Component Machining, Assembly and Testing of Aircraft Accessories and Manufacturing and Overhaul of Trainer, Transport and Fighter Aircraft of both Western and Russian platforms like HPT-32, Kiran Mk-I/IA/II, Mig 21, Mig 27, Jaguar, Mirage, Sea Harrier, AN 32, Avro, Dornier and NCA (Under Development at NAL) ,Helicopters and UAVs .
As CEO of Accessories Complex of HAL, Sh. Rajiv Kumar has administrative control and overall responsibility of Accessories Division-Lucknow, Avionics Division-Korwa(U.P.), Avionics Division-Hyderabad, Strategic Electronics Factory-Kasargod(Kerala), Transport Aircraft Division-Kanpur and HAL detachment at Agra. While the Divisions at Lucknow, Korwa, Hyderabad & Kasargod are currently engaged in manufacturing and repair/overhaul of accessories for both Fixed wing & Rotary wing aircraft & also of Aero-engines, TAD Kanpur Division & HAL detachment at Agra are engaged in manufacturing & Overhaul of Transport Aircraft.
As a Co-opted member of High Powered Committee (HPC) for National Civil Aircraft Development Programme (NCAD), constituted by Govt. of India, he was involved in preparation of Infrastructure Project Report on National Civil Aircraft (NCA). He has also significantly contributed as a member of the Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) constituted by Air Headquarter for the selection of Basic Trainer Aircraft for Air Force and was closely associated with R-29 Engine and Mirage upgrade programme. In an Air Transport Seminar organized by “AIRBUS” – France, he was conferred with 2 prizes in recognition to his demonstration of remarkable competence in presentation & conceptualization skills.
Active in professional societies, Sh. Rajiv Kumar also serves as managing committee member of ASSOCHAM, member of Lucknow Management Association (LMA) and Aeronautical Society of India(AeSI). An impassioned speaker, Sh. Rajiv Kumar evinces keen interest in interacting with Industry & Academia. He has addressed many Industry participants at CII & PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry to guide and motivate them to seize the huge manufacturing opportunity available in the country on account of Offsets. During his talks at IIT Kanpur, Bombay, Kharaghpur & Roorkee, he has exhorted Academia to actively associate with Industry for new Research & Development in the field of Aviation.
