Shri T. Suvarna Raju, took over as Chairman, HAL on 1st February, 2015. Subsequently due to restructuring of HAL Board Chairman was re-designated as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) w.e.f 1st April, 2015.
He is an Engineering Graduate with an MBA (Marketing), M. Phil in Defence Strategies Studies and Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights Laws from National Law School of India University. He is also an alumnus of National Defence College.
Shri Raju joined HAL on 26th June, 1980 as Management Trainee and has worked in different capacities at HAL Aircraft Division, Overhaul Division before taking over as Director, Design & Development on 1st February, 2012.
Shri T Suvarna Raju is a firm believer that ‘Best of Technology can never be bought, It can only be developed”. With this vision to transform the company into a Technology Powerhouse, he has been instrumental in taking various path breaking measures to make R&D set up of HAL more competitive. He was responsible for drafting of first ever R&D policy of the company that has shaped various policy initiatives in last few years. All the design centers have been brought under the ambit of COIN (Committee of Institutional Network) to synergize the learning across the organization. The policy has enabled creation of a corpus for the R&D by keeping aside 10% of Operating Profit after Tax.
Being a postgraduate in IPR laws, he has put in lot of thrust on creation of IPR wealth for the Company. The Company has filed more than 1000 patents in last two years. He has led his teams with a strategy of capitalizing on our technology strength and consolidation of our resources with a vision for developing Knowledge Based organization.
As Director (Design & Development) and Managing Director (Helicopter Complex), he was responsible for research and development programmes of the company viz LCA, LUH, LCH, IJT, HTT-40, Jaguar DARIN-III, Mirage Upgrade etc., Significant milestones have been achieved on R&D front with delivery of first series production LCA-Tejas aircraft, ground test vehicle run for LUH, completion of stall testing on IJT and LCH technology demonstrators clocking record number of sorties.
Shri Raju has experience in various facets of Aerospace Business and is currently steering a lot of futuristic programs such as UAVs, FGFA, MTA, Civil aircraft development programme, MMRCA etc.
He led teams at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and has contributed towards success of Jaguar production and Overhaul facilities establishment at HAL. He has the distinction of producing all variants of Jaguar as well as upgrading these aircraft as DARIN-II and DARIN-III. Shri. Suvarna Raju was instrumental in transfer of technology of Hawk Mk 132 Aircraft and has to his credit, delivery of highest number of Hawk Mk132 aircraft.
In his various earlier assignments, he was in charge of the State of the art Mirage 2000 Aircraft Maintenance Project which has the distinction of on time deliveries without any cost overrun.
He has been a member of various studies constituted by Indian Defence services be it for life extension of existing fleets or investigations into accidents and has received commendations for his professional involvement and contributions.
He is considered an authority on Performance Based Logistics (PBL) and has pioneered the concept in the country. He has to his credit a mathematical model capable to effectively predicting the Total Cost of Ownership of Military Assets.
Shri. Suvarna Raju is a highly professional and competent executive. The Aeronautical Society of India has conferred Shri. T. Suvarna Raju with Dr. BIREN ROY TRUST AWARD FOR THE YEAR 2002 for his unstinted efforts in planning and establishment of new technologies at HAL.
Shri T. Suvarna Raju is the Chairman of the Bangalore Chapter of Aeronautical Society of India and is the first Member Secretary of Design Development Management Board (DDMB) established by Ministry of Defence (MOD).

Shri V. M. Chamola holds a Masters Degree in Economics from Garhwal University, LLB from APS University &MBA(HRM) from IGNOU.
Shri Chamola served NTPC and NJPC in various capacities before joining HAL in 1996 as Deputy General Manager (Personnel & Administration) at Engine Division, Bangalore Complex. He was promoted as Additional General Manger (Personnel & Administration) and later joined Corporate Office.
He has also served as Chief General Manager, BEML. He possesses rich experience in HRD and has contributed towards streamlining the HR systems with a view to provide a healthy environment. He took over as Director (Human Resources) of the Company on 27th July, 2011.
He was conferred the “Chanakya Award” for Business Excellence in HR on 12th February, 2012 by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) during its Annual Conclave at Mumbai in February 2012. He also held the additional charge of the post of Managing Director (Accessories Complex), HAL in respect of Hyderabad and Korwa Divisions, from 1st August, 2013 to 31st March 2015.

Sri. CV Ramana Rao, is a Arts Graduate in History, Economic and Political Science. After Graduation he took up the course of Chartered Accountancy and passed in 1985. Subsequently he has also passed Group-I & II of Final Company Secretary Exam.
Sri. CV Ramana Rao has more than 35 years of experience in Financial Management, Accounting and Internal Control. He started his career in Foundry & Forge Division and moved on to Joint Venture Company i.e. BAe HAL, before joining Corporate Office.
He has specialization in Accounting and Audit and has been instrumental in update of Manuals of system Audit, Costing, Accounts, and Performance Budget etc. and developed a uniform master chart of Accounts.
Before assuming charge as Director (Finance), he was General Manager (Finance)- Accounts & Audit.

Shri S. Subrahmanyan, an Engineering Graduate in Mechanical Engineering and Post Graduate in Aircraft Production from IIT, Madras, joined HAL as Management Trainee, XV Batch in August 1980.
He rose to the position of the Chief of Projects, Helicopter Division and was the Chief of Projects at Corporate Office. He was Managing Director (MiG Complex) from 1st December, 2012 to 31st March, 2015. He had also held the additional charge of the post of Managing Director (Accessories Complex), HAL in respect of Lucknow Division and TAD Kanpur, from 1st August, 2013 to 31st March, 2015.
Subsequently, in view of restructuring of HAL Board, Shri Subrahmanyan was re-located to Corporate Office and Re-designated as Director (Operations) w.e.f 1st April, 2015. Shri Subrahmanyan has also been assigned with the Additional Charge of the Post of Director (Engineering & R&D) w.e.f 16th April, 2015.
With his rich experience of over 32 years, he has contributed immensely to the success of many important projects such as ROH for Cheetah/Chetak, manufacturing of Cheetal Helicopters, Project Planning and Productionisation of Advanced Light Helicopter, setting up of the Centre for Excellence for landing gear manufacture & Overhaul, setting up of a manufacturing facility for mega projects of Su-30MKI Aircraft, development of supply chain and outsourcing of major structural work packages of flight control system.

Shri. D K Venkatesh, Director (Engg. and R&D) is a Mechanical Engineer from National Institute of Technology, Surat, Associate of the Institute of Costs & Works accountants of India, Post Graduate diploma in Marketing Management and a Post Graduate in Computer Applications. He has more than 35 years of experience in Manufacture, Assembly, Repair, Overhaul, Prototype development in the areas of Production, Operations, Quality Management, Projects, Design, Customer Support of Aircraft, Helicopters and Gas Turbine Engines. He is a member of the Aeronautical Society of India and active member of the Society for Failure Analysis.
Shri. G.V. Sesha Reddy holds Masters Degree in Business Administration and LL.B from Osmania University.
He is Associate member of Institute of Company Secretaries of India, New Delhi since 1990.
He possesses 24 years of rich experience in Company Secretarial and Corporate Finance functions in various capacities in Infrastructure, Pharmaceutical, Software and manufacturing industries.
Prior to joining HAL, he served as Chief General Manager and Company Secretary with Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd.

Ms. Dipali Khanna started her career with the Indian Railway Accounts Service in the year 1976 and has contributed substantially during her career spanning over 39 years with various Government Departments.Formulation of long-term plans that addressed key development goals and objectives of various Ministries of the Government of India was a critical component of her responsibilities.Ms. Khanna has played a key role in establishment of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and was also responsible for overseeing the restructuring of the then defunct National Film Development Corporation Ltd. (NFDC) by the Government of India, resulting in the Company achieving profitability within one year of restructuring after more than a decade of recurring losses.
Ms. Dipali Khanna has also served actively on the Boards of other Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Power and Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. She is presently an Independent Director on the Boards of India Power Corporation Ltd. and Niteesh Estates Ltd.

Shri P.S. Krishnan, a distinguished Scientist and former Director of Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), was appointed as Part-Time Non-Official Director on the Board of the Company with effect from 5th May, 2014. He graduated as a mechanical engineer from IIT, Madras and holds a Master Degree also from IIT, Madras.
Shri Krishnan has contributed substantially during his illustrious career spanning 37 years with Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), a premier Systems Establishment of DRDO, in various positions, particularly for development of Flight Control System for unmanned Air Vehicles and Light Combat Aircraft (LCA).
He also served DRDL Hyderabad between 1972-76 and worked on the development of the Gimbaled Inertial Navigation System, which was tested successfully in Avro Aircraft.
Shri Krishnan has published several technical papers and had been conferred with several awards viz., Performance Excellence Award 2010 for development of Nishant UAV and Award for path breaking research for development of Fly By Wire FCS for Tejas in 2002, in recognition of his contributions.

Prof. Pradipta Banerji, a Civil Engineer from IIT, Delhi, MS & Ph. D in Structural Engineering from University of California, Berkeley, USA, joined the HAL Board as a Part-Time Non Official Director with effect from 5th May, 2014.
Prof. Banerji started his career at the University of California as a teacher/Research Assistant in Civil Engineering from 1981 to 1987, and thereafter joined IIT, Bombay as Assistant Professor and spent more than 15 years as Faculty Member. Presently, he is Director at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee.
Prof. Banerji was a visiting Research Professor at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada and the Institute of Statics and Dynamics for Aerospace Structures at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. He was Advisor, Global Alliances, Intellectual Venture India Ltd, before taking over as Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee in October 2011. His areas of specialisation are Earthquake Engineering and Structural Health Monitoring.

Shri Gopabandhu Pattanaik a 1978 batch IAS officer of the UP cadre, retired as Principal Secretary to the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 31st March 2013. He is a science graduate with specialisation in Physics and also holds a Master Degree in Science (specialisation in Economics) from the University of Wales. He was appointed as Part-Time Non Official Director on the Board of HAL with effect from 5th May, 2014.
He has served for over 8 years as Secretary/Principal Secretary to Governor/Chancellor of State Universities. He is well conversant with the University System, and has been a member of several Search Committees for the appointment of Vice Chancellors.
Shri Pattanaik has wide experience in infrastructure and social sector. He has worked as Secretary, Home, Medical Education, Programme Implementation and Principal Secretary Agriculture, Energy during his illustrious career.
Shri Pattanaik was the Chairman of UP Power Corporation Ltd. During his tenure wide-scale reform initiatives were undertaken. He had successfully steered Garhwal Development Corporation, UP Cement Corporation and UP Power Corporation.
He has also served in the Ministry of Welfare and Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

AVM D.K. Pande, a graduate in Electrical Engineering and holds an M Tech in Satellite Communication from IIT, Kharagpur, in addition to PG from Defence Service Staff College, Wellington. He was appointed as Part-Time Non Official Director on the Board of the Company with effect from 5th May, 2014.
AVM D.K. Pande retired as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Maintenance Plans) in October 2013. He had served in various commands of the IAF and possessed more than 36 years of experience in the maintenance of various types of aircraft in general and Russian equipment / platforms in particular.
Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) D.K. Pande was awarded the VishishtaSevaMedal in 2004 and AtiVishishtaSeva Medal in 2013. Besides, he has received commendations from Chief of the Air Staff in 1992 and 1995.
Shri VAITHAMANITY SADAGOPAN was born on 30th September, 1957 at ALWARATHIRUNAGIRI in the state of TAMILNADU. He is a graduate in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. He joined HAL as a Management trainee in 1979. Over the last 33 years, he has mostly worked in the areas of manufacture, repair & overhaul of Aero engines and Helicopters. He also headed HAL’s the state of the art Composite Manufacturing Division as its General Manager, followed by Helicopter MRO Division and then Helicopter Manufacturing Division. His experience covers Shop Floor management, Project management, manufacturing engineering, production planning & control, facility management and Integrated material management.
During his tenure in Aero Engine Division of Bangalore, he was involved/ responsible for establishment & productionisation of several Aero Engines manufacturing programmes. As Planning Head he was involved in all the technical discussions, negotiations and finalization of Contracts.
As the head of the world-class Composite manufacturing facility of HAL, he was responsible for establishing the process of around 500 interchangeable composite parts (around 500) for Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) and Light Compact Helicopter (LCH) of HAL Design.
As General Manager of Helicopter MRO Division, he was responsible for serviceability of ALH fleet in India and abroad and enhancement of Time Between Overhaul (TBO). Afterwards, he was heading the prestigious Helicopter Division for one year.
He took over the leadership of Helicopter Complex from 01 June, 2013 initially as Executive Director and then as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) w.e.f. 01st of April, 2015 and is responsible for all activities from design, development, production and support of Helicopters.

Shri R. Kaveri Renganathan is currently holding the position of Chief Executive Officer. After reconstitution of the Board of HAL from 1st April 2015, the position of Managing Director, Bangalore Complex has been re-designed as Chief Executive Officer.
Bangalore Complex comprises of 10 Divisions comprising of Aircraft, Engines manufacturing and Repair & Overhaul facility, Aerospace Structures manufacture, Castings and Forgings manufacture to meet the requirement of Indian Defence Forces, Space Programmes and Export Customers.
The important programmes currently under progress in Bangalore Complex are Hawk Mk 132, LCA Tejas Production, Mirage and Jaguar Drain-III upgrade Programme.
In his career of 37 years, Shri R. Kaveri Renganathan served HAL in various positions in Aircraft Assembly, Customer Services, Production Engineering, Integrated Material Management, Outsourcing and Project Management functions. He has served in Aircraft Division, Engine Division Bangalore and Corporate Office. He was holding the position of Executive Director in Corporate Office responsible for all activities related to Corporate Planning, Projects, Jont Ventures, Indigenisation, IT and MSD functions.
He has been associated with two Aircraft and Engine Manufacturing program through their various production phases of Manufacturing and Assembly. He joined HAL in 1979 as a Management Trainee (Technical).
Shri R. Kaveri Renganathan holds a degree in BE (Hons) Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani.
He is a Council Member of Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries (SIATI) and Member of Board of Directors of Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council (AASSC).
Shri Daljeet Singh is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering and joined HAL as Management Trainee in August 1979. He has got 35 years of experience in Manufacture, Assembly, Testing and ROH of various variants of MiG series & Su-30MKI fighter aircraft. He has worked in different capacities at Nasik Division from Management Trainee to Chief of production to General Manager in both Aircraft Manufacturing & Overhaul Division, Nasik. In view of his technical knowledge, dedication, sincerity towards his work including manufacturing/ management skills, he was elevated as Executive Director, Nasik. Presently he has risen to the position of Chief Executive Officer, MiG Complex. As CEO, he is heading 4 production units & 2 Design Centres at Nasik and Koraput, involved in Manufacturing and Overhaul of Fighter aircraft viz Su-30MKI, MiG variants, its Aeroengines, Design support, upgrades & modernisation.
During his illustrious career in HAL, he has contributed significantly in the areas of Manufacturing and Repair/Overhaul of various variants of Fighter Aircraft of Russian origin like MiG-21, 27 & Su-30MKI Aircraft. He has contributed to the success of many important projects such as Su-30MKI Aircraft, BISON Upgrade, Repair and Overhaul for MiG-21, MiG-27 & Su-30MKI aircraft
Shri Daljeet Singh has been instrumental in setting up the ROH facility for Su-30MKI Aircraft which is the first such facility in the world. He is presently providing required fillip to ramp up the ROH Capacity of Su-30MKI aircraft at Nasik and AL-31FP Engine at Koraput
Under his leadership, HAL handed over the first overhauled SU-30 aircraft to the Indian Air Force in the presence of Hon’ble. Defence Minister on 9th Jan 2015. Life extension of Su-30MKI aircraft from 10 years to 14 years was also accomplished to ensure optimum utilization of national assets.
Aircraft Upgrade & Research Centre, Nasik successfully integrated BrahMos and ASTRA missiles on Su-30 aircraft, under his guidance, greatly enhancing the potency of the platform. The first Su-30 integrated with BrahMos missile was handed over to the Indian Air Force during Aero India 2015.
MiG Complex with his support has been at the forefront for undertaking indigenous design and development of Ground Support/ Handling Equipments to assist IAF in having support equipment available 24X7 resulting in high availability of Su-30MKI aircraft.
He has steered Operationalisation of HAL, Nasik Airport and various initiatives towards development of the region as part of its Corporate social responsibility.
Shri Rajiv Kumar, an accomplished professional with over 35 years of comprehensive Management and Engineering experience, is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering , an MBA and also an alumnus of National Law School of India University. Sh. Rajiv Kumar started his career in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited as a Management Trainee (Technical) and was elevated to the post of Chief Executive Officer(Accessories Complex) in April 2015.
After the completion of 72 weeks of academic training at IIT Madras and Management Academy of HAL, Sh. Rajiv Kumar handled various key assignments at 3 Divisions of HAL having distinctly different product lines. He has got hands on experience in the diverse fields of Component Machining, Assembly and Testing of Aircraft Accessories and Manufacturing and Overhaul of Trainer, Transport and Fighter Aircraft of both Western and Russian platforms like HPT-32, Kiran Mk-I/IA/II, Mig 21, Mig 27, Jaguar, Mirage, Sea Harrier, AN 32, Avro, Dornier and NCA (Under Development at NAL) ,Helicopters and UAVs .
As CEO of Accessories Complex of HAL, Sh. Rajiv Kumar has administrative control and overall responsibility of Accessories Division-Lucknow, Avionics Division-Korwa(U.P.), Avionics Division-Hyderabad, Strategic Electronics Factory-Kasargod(Kerala), Transport Aircraft Division-Kanpur and HAL detachment at Agra. While the Divisions at Lucknow, Korwa, Hyderabad & Kasargod are currently engaged in manufacturing and repair/overhaul of accessories for both Fixed wing & Rotary wing aircraft & also of Aero-engines, TAD Kanpur Division & HAL detachment at Agra are engaged in manufacturing & Overhaul of Transport Aircraft.
As a Co-opted member of High Powered Committee (HPC) for National Civil Aircraft Development Programme (NCAD), constituted by Govt. of India, he was involved in preparation of Infrastructure Project Report on National Civil Aircraft (NCA). He has also significantly contributed as a member of the Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) constituted by Air Headquarter for the selection of Basic Trainer Aircraft for Air Force and was closely associated with R-29 Engine and Mirage upgrade programme. In an Air Transport Seminar organized by “AIRBUS” – France, he was conferred with 2 prizes in recognition to his demonstration of remarkable competence in presentation & conceptualization skills.
Active in professional societies, Sh. Rajiv Kumar also serves as managing committee member of ASSOCHAM, member of Lucknow Management Association (LMA) and Aeronautical Society of India(AeSI). An impassioned speaker, Sh. Rajiv Kumar evinces keen interest in interacting with Industry & Academia. He has addressed many Industry participants at CII & PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry to guide and motivate them to seize the huge manufacturing opportunity available in the country on account of Offsets. During his talks at IIT Kanpur, Bombay, Kharaghpur & Roorkee, he has exhorted Academia to actively associate with Industry for new Research & Development in the field of Aviation.
